I was really convicted and helped by this article by Zach Nielsen titled “Leaders Are Encouragers.”
While I am not now in a position of church leadership, when I look back on the way I have lead in the past I see many of the short-comings referenced in the article.
I am by nature quicker to correct than I am to encourage. In the past this has led to strained personal and ministry relationships as I tend to be more of an “idea focused” person than a “relationship focused” person.
In the kingdom of heaven, parroting the saying “If you want an omelet you gotta break some eggs” to cover our broken relationships is not a mark of maturity.
